13 Rajasthan men jailed for 20 years for raping 15-year-old girl

The perpetrators under the age of four in this case are still facing trial.

A Kota court on Saturday sentenced 13 people to 20 years in prison each and two to four years in prison each for raping a 15-year-old girl for nine consecutive days earlier this year.

Additional Sessions Judge Ashok Chaudhry, who is presiding over a special court set up under the Pokcho Act, has sentenced a woman to four years’ rigorous imprisonment for abducting a girl from her home and selling her to a woman for rape.

The court acquitted 12 people who were allegedly involved in the crime, while 16 others were convicted. Offenders under the age of four are still facing separate trial at the local Juvenile Justice Board.

ASJ Chowdhury, while convicting the convicts, imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 each for those sentenced to 20 years imprisonment and Rs 7,000 for those sentenced to four years imprisonment.

The court handed down the verdict within nine months of the crime following an investigation under the Rajasthan Police Officer’s Scheme.

The FIR was registered on March 6 this year at the Suket police station in connection with a complaint lodged by Pooja Jain, a woman from Kota, who allegedly abducted a teenage girl from her house in Kota on the pretext of buying grass. Pie.

Pooja took her to Jhalawar, where she handed herself over to several people who had raped her for nine days, the girl alleged in her complaint.

After completing the trial of the case, the Kota police filed a 1750-page chargesheet in the court on May 7, which conducted an equally speedy trial and delivered its verdict on Saturday, said public prosecutor Prem Narayan Namdev.
