Former Chief Minister MP Raja Ram Pal met Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav on Monday.
When the SP Twitter handle posted a photo of the Congress leader’s “courtesy visit”, the former Akbarpur MP was seen during the pilgrimage.
If Paul leaves, he will be one of the many senior leaders who have walked out of Congress in recent months, including former Union Minister Jitin Prasad, and former MLAs Lalitash Pathi Tripathi, Gayadeen Anuragi and Vinod Chaturvedi.
Meanwhile, Akhilesh will start his “Vijay Yatra” from Kanpur on Tuesday to garner public support ahead of the assembly elections. “The Samajwadi Vijay Yatra aims to create awareness among the people about the corruption, authoritarian and repressive policies of the BJP government and to establish true democracy,” the party said in a statement on Monday.
Yadav will travel in a Mercedes bus, which has been changed to ‘Rath’ with posters of Akhilesh Yadav, Mulayam Singh Yadav and a picture of party leader Mohammad Azam Khan.
The party released a 17-second video of Akhilesh talking to his father Mulayam Singh Yadav and touching his feet and receiving blessings.
The SP said the pilgrimage would start from Kanpur and the first 12 days would cover Kanpur Dehat, Jalan and Hamirpur from October 12-13.
