A second indictment in the murder case involving Olympian Sushil Kumar is coming soon

The Delhi Police has informed the court that a supplementary chargesheet will be filed soon in the Chatrasal Stadium murder case involving Olympic medalist wrestler Sushil Kumar.

The first chargesheet filed by the police on August 2 named 13 accused, including the “main” accused Sushil Kumar.

Police said there were a total of 17 culprits in the murder case.

“The rest of the accused persons will soon file additional chargesheets, Inspector Mangesh Tyagi submitted,” Additional Sessions Judge Shivaji Anand said in the order dated October 4.

Kumar, along with others, allegedly attacked former junior national wrestling champion Sagar Tanger and his friends at the stadium in May over a property dispute. Tanger later succumbed to his injuries.

In the first indictment, police said the fight at the stadium was the result of a conspiracy by Sushil Kumar, who wanted to re-establish his dominance among junior wrestlers.

Police have relied on scientific evidence, including the oral death report of the deceased, the locations of the accused, CCTV footage, weapons and vehicles recovered in the final report.

Meanwhile, Olympian has asked the court for bail in the case, with police fabricating a false case and presenting a “guilty image” about him. The international wrestler has been in prison since June 2, 2021.

The Delhi Police has registered an FIR against the accused for murder, attempted murder, criminal murder, criminal conspiracy, kidnapping, robbery and rioting.
