Despite opposition from both the ruling LDF and the opposition UDF to the privatization, the group seized control of the airport.
Last year, the Kerala Assembly unanimously passed a resolution.
Kerala Chief Minister Binarayi Vijayan criticized the Adani Group’s acquisition of the airport, saying it was not for facility development but to protect the interests of monopolies.
Thiruvananthapuram International Airport is one of the four airports in the state. Established in 1932, the airport is owned and operated by the Airports Authority of India.
