Former Australian cricketer and World Cup-winning coach Dave Whatmore has joined Baroda as head coach for the upcoming domestic season.
Baroda Cricket Association secretary Ajit Lele on Friday confirmed the development to PTI.
“He (Whatmore) joined as head coach the day before yesterday and he will lead other coaches and other age groups,” Lele said.
Whatmore, 67, has many years of experience in top-level cricket and was the coach of the Sri Lankan team that won the 1996 World Cup.
He then went on to coach various teams and in the Indian domestic circuit, kept Kerala under his control.
His last mission was with Nepal.
The BCCI has already announced the domestic schedule for the 2021-22 season, this time the Ranji Trophy will also be played as it had to be canceled due to the Kovit-19 epidemic last season.
