My Metro Operator Delhi Metro Rail Company (DMRC) has shared with the Delhi Metro Public Works Department (PWT) that it will develop the first integrated flyover and Metro Via structure with a vehicle flyover. The tunnel will be located near Surgot on the Majlis Park – Majpur Pavement of the Delhi Metro Pink Line in Northeast Delhi.
The PWD flyover and vehicular underpass is part of the elevated road that runs across the Yamuna River, parallel to the Vajrabad Overpass (Signature Bridge) across the Yamuna River and the Ring Road near DNT.
Integrated portals will be set up, with a flyover and Metro Viaduct on top of it. On one side of the portal, the Metro Viaduct will be placed and on the other side a PWD flyover for vehicular traffic will be constructed. The underpass built under the portals will facilitate the movement of vehicles coming from the outer ring road.
In these portals, the road flyover and Metro Viaduct will be constructed and operated parallel to each other for a length of about 450 m, and a total of 21 portals will be set at an average width of 26 m and a height of 10 m. .
The width of the Metro Viaduct is 10.5 meters and the three lanes that move near and parallel to the road flyover are about 10 meters wide. The proposed PWT flyover will currently operate near the existing flyover from Wazirabad to ISPD near Surgat.
Delhi Metro officials will build the portals and the metro viaduct on top of it and PWD will upgrade the flyover on the portals already built, the DMRC said in its statement. The work to be done by Delhi Metro officials is expected to be completed by 2023.
The Majlis Park-Mangalore corridor is being integrated at the Surkot Metro Station. The 12.098 km long walkway covers eight stations and is fully elevated. The extension of the Pink Line walkway will complete the ring of the Majlis Park-Shiv Vihar walkway and be the first ring metro walkway in the country to be 70 km long.
