This reduced its impact. No casualties have been reported so far. The tremor is believed to have caused no major damage.
It may be recalled that earthquake incidents have increased in the country in recent times. A 3.9 magnitude earthquake was recorded in Ladakh on Saturday itself. A 3.5 magnitude earthquake was recorded at Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh shortly before that.
An earthquake was recorded somewhere almost every day last week. Tremors were also felt in Afghanistan and Andaman and Nicobar last week.
