The England and Wales Cricket Board announced on Tuesday that all-rounder Sam Curran will miss the upcoming Twenty20 World Cup with a back injury. Curran noticed the problem after playing for the Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League match against the Rajasthan Royals on Saturday. Scans revealed Surrey left arm injury and he will fly home with the UK medical team for further tests and a full examination.
The 23-year-old has been replaced by Koran’s brother Tom in the England squad, as the injury is expected to keep him out for several weeks.
Surrey’s Reese Doppley will be added as a travel destination and will join the UK party in due course.
The England players and management arrived at the Muscat base in the IPL on Tuesday ahead of the T20 World Cup campaign.
They face training matches against India and New Zealand before the start of the match against the West Indies on October 23.
