“Despite the fact that the epidemic has continued to play fish shows this year, the potential for rapid spread of this variant is unprecedented,” the group wrote in a statement on its website.
“We also note that a significant number of people travel for these events and then return to their communities and want to avoid accelerating the spread of the virus,” their statement continued. “Even with strict Tour Code protocols, prolonging four nights of indoor flow (preparation and travel days) for important crews and staff significantly increases the chance of stopping shows once they have started.”
The sold-out Madison Square Garden shows are now set to take place April 20-23. Tickets will be respected on those dates or fully refunded within the next 30 days.
“Thank you all for your understanding,” the statement concluded. “Stay healthy and safe, take care of each other there. If you have not already been vaccinated, encourage vaccination.”
