Former India captain MS Dhoni has announced his future as the Chennai Super Kings player, saying he will return to Chepauk and play his final match in Chennai for the three-time IPL champions. Along with Dhoni, Deepak Sahar, Imran Tahir and Shardul Thakur spoke to fans on CSK’s official YouTube page. A fan asked Dhoni the reason for choosing August 15 to announce his retirement from international cricket and expressed his disappointment at not being able to attend the wicket-keeper-bats farewell match.
In response, Dhoni said he would like to meet his fans and play his last match in Chennai.
“There can be no better day than that – August 15. When you say goodbye, you can always come and see me playing for CSK, and that may be my farewell game. You will still have that opportunity to bid on me. We will say goodbye. Let’s play the game and I can meet all my fans, ”he said during a live session on Dhoni’s CSK YouTube page.
According to Dhoni, senior wicket-keeper-batsman is likely to make his debut for CSKA in the IPL next year.
The 40-year-old took CSK to the playoffs for the 11th time in the IPL.
While Dhoni’s numbers have not been good this season, his leadership skills are second to none.
After finishing 7th last season, Dhoni-led CSK became the first team to secure a playoff berth this season.
