IPhone supplier Foxconn’s Indian factory workers reportedly admitted to hospital after food poisoning

A source close to the matter said that several employees of Foxconn India, which manufactures iPhones for Apple, have been admitted to hospital on Saturday due to food poisoning.

A second source said food poisoning occurred at Foxconn’s shelters earlier this week, where most of the staff live. Most of the employees of Taiwanese manufacturers are women.

It was not immediately clear how many workers were seriously ill and whether the incident would affect production at the plant in Sriperumbudur, a suburb of south Chennai.

Foxconn did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
