Harbhajan Singh, one of the most decorated Indian spinners of our time, has revealed what awaits him in the future in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Speaking to his team’s Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) commentators, Harbhajan said casually, “I don’t know if I’m going to play any more but I enjoy my time at KKR.”
When asked if he would be working as a coach or mentor in the future, Harbhajan replied:
“Yes, frankly … cricket was the biggest thing for me and I want to serve Indian cricket as much as I can. Whether it is a coach or a mentor, I will be happy to do whatever help is needed. The team,” he said.
KKR won by 86 runs against Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Thursday. KKR has qualified for the playoffs this season with Delhi Capitals, Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore.
With important matches to come, Harbhajan could be a good choice due to his experience playing in big matches before.
In IPL 2021, Harbhajan has played only three matches for KKR so far. His wicket-less count was a concern for captain Ian Morgan, who has been left out of support.
Overall, Harbhajan has played in 163 IPL matches for different owners, taking 150 wickets at an average of 26.86 and 7.07 in the economy.
