Six policemen, including a station house officer wanted in the Kanpur real estate death case, have been fined Rs. Kanpur police on Saturday increased the number from 25,000 to one lakh each.
The suspended policemen were posted at Ramgarh police station in Gorakhpur.
Police said the reward was increased because the accused could not be located. They raided the homes of police and detained a few for questioning.
SHO Jagat Narain Singh of Amethi, sub-inspectors Akshay Kumar Misra of Pallia, Vijay Yadav of Jaunpur and Raul Dubey of Mirzapur and constables Kamlesh Singh Yadav and Prasanth Kumar (both of Kajipur are accused). They are accused of assaulting real estate manish Gupta during a hotel raid in Gorakhpur on September 28. Gupta later succumbed to his injuries.
Meanwhile, Gorakhpur police are examining footage from CCTV cameras at the hotel and hospital where Gupta was taken. Two days ago, a video came out online showing Gupta lying unconscious on the ground and then being taken away by a few policemen. Police said a video of the incident had surfaced.
A special investigative team investigating the case said it took a long time to transfer Gupta from a private hospital to a government hospital.
SIT has released photos of the accused.
Kanpur police said the name of the informant would be kept confidential and her security would be their responsibility. People can provide tracks to the police on two new cell phone numbers.
Police have recorded the confession of Meenakshi, the wife of Manish Gupta, who was with him in Gorakhpur, and his two friends Harveer Singh and Pradeep Kumar from Gurgaon.
Hotel staff were also questioned.
