A special court here has rejected the interim bail petition of former MLA Shahnawaz Rana, who is accused of trying to rape a woman.
A non-bailable warrant has already been issued for Rana’s failure to appear in court.
Special Judge Gopal Upadhyay, who rejected the former MLA’s interim bail application, asked him to surrender in court.
According to the lawyer, the case was registered against Rana in 2001 on the basis of a complaint lodged by the victim.
In her complaint to the Civil Lines police station, the victim alleged that Rana had called her to Muzaffarnagar claiming that he would give her a job and that he had tried to rape her along with another man Sardaj.
