Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday inaugurated the Noida International Airport in Jawaharlal Nehru, Uttar Pradesh. The airport, the second international airport in the Delhi-National Capital Region, is expected to be operational by September 2024 with an initial capacity of 1.2 crore passengers a year.
Here are the highlights of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s keynote address at the Jawaharlal Nehru Airport Stone Festival:
- Infrastructure projects: Today, 21st century India is looking at a mega infrastructure project. These infrastructure projects will not only have a direct impact on local people, but will transform the entire region. These infrastructure projects will be even better when there is seamless connectivity.
- Noida Airport is an example of this. It will be a high-speed highways, high-speed rail network, metro rail link, logistics gateway and India’s largest aviation maintenance and repair center.
Logistics Gateway to North India: Congratulations to the people of Uttar Pradesh who laid the foundation stone for the Noida International Airport. This will add Noida and western UP to the world map. The airport will be the logistics gateway to North India and will be on the global logistics map of UP.
Export Center: The airport is an export hub not only to Noida and Greater Noida but also to nearby Meerut, Mathura, Agra, Moradabad, Muzaffarnagar, Bijnor and many more.
Development of farmers: We have seen many schemes where land was taken from the farmers and they were not given proper compensation and the schemes were not started. Land for the barren, without its use. But in the BJP, we are operating under the slogan ‘Nation First’. We make all decisions keeping in mind India’s progress, farmers’ development, planning and regional development.
Will save the nation millions: Thousands of crores are spent annually on aircraft maintenance in India. Approximately how much does it cost to build this airport. Now that it is a repair and maintenance hub, it will save the nation thousands of crores.
