Pasundara Goswami, daughter of the late RSP heavyweight and former West Bengal minister Shidi Goswami, who fielded Trinamool as the Trinamool candidate in the upcoming Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) elections, said on Saturday that she firmly believes Mamata Banerjee’s party is capable. The communal politics of the BJP must be defeated.

Ms Goswami, a left-wing student activist from her college days, was nominated by the Trinamool candidate from Ward No. 96 in South Kolkata on Friday.

“I am contesting as a Trinamool Congress candidate in the local body elections because I firmly believe that Mamata Banerjee can defeat and challenge the BJP,” he told reporters on Saturday.

Ms Goswami had earlier criticized the CPI (M)’s decision to take disciplinary action against Ajantha Biswas, daughter of the late party leader Anil Biswas, for writing in the Trinamool Congress’ mouthpiece “Jako Bungalow” and said it was “unreasonable”.
