State-owned oil refineries such as Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum revise daily fuel tariffs taking into account crude oil prices and rupee-dollar exchange rates in the international market. Any change in petrol and diesel prices will come into effect from 6 a.m. daily.
Meanwhile, oil futures rose on Thursday, with the market believing it was unlikely the United States would release emergency crude reserves or ban exports to ease tight goods.
Brent futures rose $ 87.95, or 1.1 percent, to $ 81.95 a barrel, while U.S. crude was up 87 cents, or 1.1 percent, to $ 78.30 a barrel.
