PMRDA development plan to create 12 lakh jobs to improve housing sector: study


A study by the Credo-Pune Metro has found that the development plan prepared by the Pune Metropolitan Regional Development Authority (PMRDA) will boost the real estate sector as the number of residences in and around Pune will increase by 13.3 lakh by 2041. .

The cluster development will not only make Pune the “best city to live in India” but also accelerate the social and economic development of the local people as about 12 lakh jobs will be created.

The findings of the research analysis were presented at a recent event, which was attended by Chairman Anil Barande, Secretary Arvind Jain, and Vice-Chairmen Ranjit Nayaknavare, Manish Jain, Amar Manjrekar, Rajesh Chaudhary, Aditya Javdekar and Vinod Chandwani Metro of Creedo-Pune.

CREDAI members Rajesh Chaudhary and Dilip Mittal commented on the research analysis and suggestions on the development plan.

“Its implementation will be important to bring about the rapid growth of the region,” Rajesh Chaudhry told The Indian Express. “We expect at least 12 lakh jobs to be created with the expansion of the real estate sector,” he said.

Credit members said the land acquisition would be a major obstacle in the implementation of the DP.

“Land acquisition will not be a big problem because we will implement land acquisition city plans. In the case of land pooling, people will come forward voluntarily. Also, we want the lands we already have reserved for setting up development projects,” he said.

Ranjith Nayaknavare, Vice President, CREDAI, said, “The development plan for 2021-2041, recently prepared under the leadership of Dr. Suhas Divase, BMRDA Commissioner and his team, is commendable and future. The cluster structure of the Urban Development Center (UGC) and the Rural Development Center (RGC) is important in the project. A total of 6,914 sq km (11 times the size of Singapore) was surveyed by air and satellite for this project and data on land features, terrain, built-up area, urban and rural expansion was collected. From all these factors, it is estimated that by 2041, 13.3 lakh households and 12 lakh jobs will be available in the region. It is a huge development project and if successful, Pune will be considered as the best city to live in.

Chaudhry said DP is convenient, flexible and efficient for the citizens. Also, in the future, the Ring Road, the approximately 89.69 km long Crescent Railway, the Pune-Nashik semi-high speed railway and 12 metro lines will provide additional facilities in the city. It is essential to study job opportunities and the economic growth of the region when creating a DP and BMRDA initiative. For example, Barangud, which is considered a cluster under the UGC, will be developed as a knowledge center considering the educational institutions in the area, as well as Alandi as a pilgrimage cluster. This will help strengthen the social and economic structure in all areas.

According to the findings, over the next few years, 26 strategic city planning projects, 11 logistics centers and several multimodal centers will be located in Pune and in addition, grids 300 to 500 meters wide will be developed to facilitate transportation.

The Rapid Transit Center for Navi Mumbai Airport should provide check-in facility from Pune to citizens coming from Pune, Satara, Sangli, Kolhapur, Ahmednagar and other cities in the state. Navi Mumbai should have high-speed connectivity with airport terminals, international exhibition and transport hubs, while the necessary facilities should be set up as Alandi is growing as a cultural hub.
