Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday completed 20 years as the head of a government (including 13 years as the Chief Minister of Gujarat), while addressing an event in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand, he said that he never thought he would hold such posts.

“I did not even imagine that on this day 20 years ago, I would rise (but) rise from the post of Chief Minister to the post of Prime Minister. Living among the people … was going on decades ago but 20 years ago today I got a new responsibility – as the Chief Minister of Gujarat,” He said.

Prime Minister Modi first became the President of Gujarat on October 7, 2001.

The Prime Minister’s anniversary celebrations were hailed by members of his ruling BJP, including party leader JP Natta, who listed some of the “achievements” of the Modi government and lauded him for “implementing the results … the foundation of a strong nation”.

With the repeal of Section 370, the Muthalak Prohibition Act, the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, the CAA (Citizenship Amendment Act), the OBC Commission, the GST and the reservation for the economically backward sections, Prime Minister Modi has resolved issues that are detrimental to the country. The BJP leader announced that Prime Minister Modi would keep India at the center of the world stage by ensuring a resolution against terrorism and managing international diplomacy.

The BJP, which celebrated the Prime Minister’s 71st birthday last month, has registered Govt-19 vaccines (approximately 2.25 crore) in 24 hours – this month by cleaning rivers and praying at temples. Spreading awareness about gurudwaras and the center’s welfare programs, according to ANI News Agency.

The celebration of the Prime Minister’s 20th anniversary comes amid criticism from opposition parties and concerned civil society members about the government’s handling of issues such as the epidemic, the Indo-China border demarcation, the state of the national economy and the immediate. Eight people, including four farmers, were killed in Lakhimpur Kerry in UP.
