New Delhi: The government on Wednesday approved the Productivity Combined Bonus (PLB) -78 days pay for ineligible railway employees for the 2020-21 (FY21) financial year. This decision does not include Railway Security Force (RPF) or Railway Security Special Force (RPSF) personnel. The bonus is usually announced before the Diwali festival.
The Railway Ministry said in a statement, “About 11.56 lakh non-gazetted employees are likely to benefit from this decision.” It said the bonus money is made every year before the Dasara / Puja holiday.
According to the ministry, the financial burden of bonus payments is estimated at Rs 1,984.73 crore.
The fixed wage calculation ceiling for PLP payments is Rs. 7,000 per month and a maximum of Rs. 17,951 to be paid in 78 days, ”it said.
The PLP amount of 78 days pay was paid in the financial years 2010-11 to 2019-20. The PLP amount will be paid in 2020-21 as well, which is expected to encourage employees to improve their performance. Railways, ”read further in the ministry’s announcement.
The PLP scheme for railways came into effect from 1979-80 and was consulted with the approval of the two recognized federations, the All India Railway Federation and the National Federation of Indian Railways and the Union Cabinet.
The program provides a review every three years.
