Head coach Hashan Tillakaratne on Wednesday said that the Sri Lanka women’s cricket team’s tour of Pakistan, scheduled for the end of this month, has been postponed indefinitely.
The Sri Lankan team was scheduled to leave for Pakistan on October 15.
Tillakaratne told reporters, “It is disappointing that this series did not come. It was canceled from the end of Pakistan because they had some logistics issues.”
The three-match ODI series until October 29 would have been the first tour of Pakistan by the Sri Lankan women for a two-match series.
The two women’s teams have been competing with each other since 1998. The Sri Lankan women toured Pakistan in 2006, but lost to India in the Asian Cup in Karachi.
The last two bilateral series between the two countries was won by the Pakistan women 3-0 in Sri Lanka in 2018.
Sri Lankan women have not played international cricket since October 2019.
