The BCCI on Monday approved the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) policy, which also brings Indian cricketers within its borders.
Until now, the BCCI has no specific policy to deal with matters related to sexual harassment. This policy applies to office bearers, members of the Apex Council and the IPL Executive Council, in addition to cricketers from seniors to 16 years of age.
The nine-page document held by PTI states that the BCCI will set up a four-member internal committee to investigate sexual harassment complaints. It did not name members during its apex council meeting on Monday.
“The CEO of the IC must be a woman who works at the highest level in the workplace (the“ CEO ”),” the policy states.
“2 members of the IC will be selected from the staff, who are dedicated to the cause of women in particular or have experience in social work or have legal knowledge.
“1 member of the IC will be selected from an NGO or an association dedicated to women or a person who is aware of issues related to sexual harassment (? External member?). At least half of the members of the IC will be women.
The complainant must file a complaint within three months from the date of the incident and the IC will give the offenders seven working days to respond to the charges. The respondent has 10 days to respond.
The ICC will complete its investigation and send its recommendations to the BCCI, which will take action within 60 to 90 days from the date of the complaint. If the complainant or respondent is not satisfied with the decision of the BCCI, he can go to court.
“It must be done within 90 days of receiving the IC report.”
Penalties include auditing, counseling, social services, warning, loss of pay, loss of seniority, and dismissal.
