Emphasizing the importance of drone technology, the government has said that it will play a significant role in providing vaccines in remote areas across the country and will inspire vaccination drive.
Speaking at an event organized by industry body FICCI, Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Cynthia said the government acts as an “anchor customer” for vaccine use and creates and creates demand for drone technology in India.
Mr Cynthia said the productivity-linked project for drones, recently approved by the government, would help attract more investment to the country and create jobs.
The Minister further said that there is also a Mapping or SVAMITVA project with advanced technology for survey of villages and rural areas focusing on the use of drones for map of villages.
Mr Cynthia said the productivity-linked incentive scheme and new drone rules would help the domestic production of drones.
“The 40 per cent value addition for this sector offers a unique advantage.”
The Minister noted that promoting new technology is very important for the development of the drone industry.
