Lakhimpur Gary Violence Incident Live News:
On Sunday, a procession of three SUVs belonging to Union Home Minister Ajay Mishra collided head-on with farmers’ protesters in Lakhimpur, Uttar Pradesh, killing eight people, including four farmers. Farmer leaders, locals and Uttar Pradesh police sources told The Indian Express that it was a “burning” wait after a few days of Misra’s tensions aimed at “provocative” gestures and farmers’ protests.
The bodies of three farmers were cremated at their own locations on Tuesday, while a fourth family demanded a second autopsy. The families of Lovepreet Singh (19), Nachatar Singh (65) and Taljeet Singh (42) agreed to be cremated after several hours of negotiations. However, the family of Gurwinder Singh, 22, of Madeira Tehsil, refused to cremate him until a second autopsy was carried out.
